Lemon Lime All Natural Soda

July 14, 2012 |

Every time I visit Whole Foods Market I get a feeling that any item there costs at least $4.99. Well, I explain to myself, that’s what we have to pay for the high quality food and guaranteed safety. And when I look at the receipt I think:  This is another good reason to eat less! After all, you don’t need that much of a healthy food for proper nourishment whereas junk food is never enough because it’s “empty.” Finally I was able to find a $1.99 item on the beverages shelf. It was Lemon Lime All Natural Soda, product of USA. Nothing artificial. Can you imagine a 2L bottle of soda without phosphoric acid or without these toxins: Red 40, Yellow 6 and brominated vegetable oil? Luckily, here it is:

The beverage is made with 100% cane sugar, citric acid and natural flavors. No HFCS, no artificial colors, no caffeine. As the result, with this Lemon Lime soda you will not be exposed to a chemical risk, DDFI = 0/6 = 0. You shouldn’t be surprised by its low nutritional value, DDNF = 6/12 = 0.5. It is just sweetened (~ 48 teaspoons of cane sugar per 2 L bottle) and naturally flavored carbonated water with no toxic food additives (no red segments in the above diagram).

All Natural Soda is no longer an elusive ghost from the past. It’s real! Just remember: sweetened drinks are treat, they are not designed to replace water in your diet. Find Lemon Lime soda at Whole Foods Market or elsewhere, hydrate yourself right!

Hi, this is my review on this Lemon-Lime soda. I always go to Whole Foods and buy Organic products that I need. This time I came back from gym, bought some things I needed, and also bought a soda can in the cold beverages next to the prepared foods section. This time I chose Lemon-Lime as I had Key Lime before but wanted to taste this one. After I paid, I started drinking small sips of the soda on the way out. Then suddenly I started having heavy breathing! I thought it was just because I was tired & came back from the gym. So I ignored it. Then a little while later when I got home, I was itching crazy! And then I saw my chest got a rash from this soda! Overall DO NOT buy this unless you want to experience heavy breathing & rashes.

Tom, thank you for your report! It is hard to say what could trigger that terrible reaction to this drink or, maybe, to a combination of something else and this drink. There are only sugar, citric acid (which naturally present in the body of everyone) and two natural flavors in it. Have you ever had any kind of reactions to citrus before?
