Sugar free Popsicles eat away your health

May 9, 2012 |

Nothing is free in the profit driven world. But if you are not educated in what food is, you lose twice: when you pay your own money for a marketing trick and when you allow the pesky food additives to eat away your health. Corporations don’t hesitate to exploit your ignorance to pack their deep pockets with profit. It’s good to remember: often when you choose sugar free products you swop sugar for one or two synthetic sweeteners and a bunch of other chemicals which cannot be good for your health. All natural products with stevia as a sugar substitute  are one of a few rare exceptions.

I tirelessly keep warning the public that “diet” and “zero” drinks are nothing else but chemically polluted water. Now here is a container of sugar free Popsicle: the chemically polluted ice. As you see below, the DyeDiet risk diagram is way too red.

These Popsicles eat away your health by exposing you to the unacceptably high chemical risk of DDFI = 50/12 ~ 4.2 and by giving you the nutritional value which is next to nothing, DDNF = 12/57~ 0.2. Although the amounts of detected artificial colorants may look low, the problem is that Popsicle is not the only source you get them into your blood (read PDF file Food Dyes: A Rainbow of Risks).

Natural and artificial flavors, perhaps, are limonene to mimic orange, benzaldehyde  to fake cherry and methylanthranilate to fake grape for you. Enjoy! But I wouldn’t recommend. Why anyone in the world would allow all these chemicals into his or her bloodstream just to get less or no sugar? Isn’t this crazy? The solution is simple:

We all overeat. We need to eat less and we need to eat even less sugar!

I have learned these lessons from my experience of periodic fasting on water only for 8 to 10 days.

Better alternatives. The good news is that Natural Colors and Flavors version of Popsicle made from juice concentrates is sitting right next to the sugar free Popsicle for the same $3.48.

Natural colors and flavors PopsicleI would certainly recommend the natural one over the “sugar free” frozen pollution. Also, here are easy homemade Fruit Popsicle and another Frozen Fruit Pops recipe. Make your informed healthy choice! And yes, eat less Popsicles too.
